Life is unpredictable. Last Christmas I was deeply in love with someone who was not a part of my life when I celebrated the recent Christmas. A year is a long time, and a lot of things can change during this long period of time. I am taking some time out to recall and reflect on the happenings from the year 2023. Overall, the year has been a mix of all emotions for me so far. I experienced love, loss, pain, and joy. I achieved. I felt proud. I hoped. I learned and I changed. It was a wonderful journey which is about to end this week.

The year 2023 started with immense happiness as I took a leap of faith and did something which I probably would never do again. I travelled back and forth for almost 24 hours to meet and spend a few hours with someone I had never met before in person. It was quite awkward, but I am glad I invested that time which gave me an unforgettable memory for life. I was happy and full of love after the meetup took place. The happiness turned into sadness when I lost our little kitten “Tingu” over the night unexpectedly. He just disappeared into thin air making us shocked and sad. Life keeps going no matter what and we welcomed new kittens a month later. Thanks to our loving cat "Chhotu". One of them died in the dogs attack and lefts us with other two. We named them Goku and Chingi.

The first half of the year was amazing. We purchased a new house in the same city which was a proud moment for all of us. The feeling of owning a house is very special and I am glad we took the move making purchase decision in quick time. During the same period, I got rid of a health issue I was facing for the last 2-3 years. I was taking homeopathy treatment for some food allergy which proven to be effective taking the issue away. I felt so happy and relaxed knowing that I won’t have to think twice before eating anything. Food restrictions is a curse that I wish no one should get in their entire lifetime. It becomes so painful to align your eating diet to your body’s requrements. So, be happy if you can eat anything. ;)

Sometime in the month of April I got promoted at work and became a team leader. It was truly an achievement for me as I had been waiting to get this role for so many years. My professional journey hasn’t been great, but such milestones do count. I have been preparing myself for this role for a long time and I began to transform myself at work to be able to perform well in this new role. I got to learn many new things being a leader. One of the important things I had to change was my thought process from “Me” to “We”. I attended a few courses which taught me the essentials of being a good leader. I am trying my best to be the best of myself in this role to transform work experience of my team.

While I was having a good time at work, it was quite a task to maintain the friendships and relationships in my personal life. I lost my years-long love interest as the months passed by. It was a long-distance friendship I was struggling with, and we ended up losing on conversations and ultimately the friendship. I gave up on a few more people this year as the only person who was putting efforts into friendships was me so when I stopped, the bond broke automatically. No more being a GIVER here onwards. I am all for equal efforts from both sides now and if someone doesn’t want to do that, they are free to leave. One sided friendships / relationships are a total waste of time and energy. I would ask all to look for red flags and stop if you see many in them. You can communicate with them if you are badly in love but if they act deaf, leave them as soon as possible.

While I was giving up on people there came a time, I had to make one harsh decision. I had to give up on “Linux” to save some space in my laptop. It was hard to uninstall the operating system that I love very much. But, let me be honest that I wasn’t getting enough time to spend on the OS and it had become tough to create a workflow and shuffle in between Linux and Windows. I had to choose one and Windows won. No bad feelings for Linux but I don’t need it right now.

One fine month I encountered love again. Though for a short period of time, I felt the magic of love. The girl showed me what it feels like to be in love and being loved back. We bonded very quickly and shared all kinds of conversations. We talked. We laughed. We loved. And we decided to stop as we both knew there was no future for us together. I don’t know why but it felt like the God-sent learning for me. I think the God wanted me to see how the love feels like when gets reciprocated and want me to choose people wisely to love in future. This phase of my life taught me to keep self-respect higher than anything else. Any relationship without respect for each other doesn’t last long. I am not forgetting this in my entire lifetime now.

In the later half of the year, I lost both “Chingi” and “Goku” due to the contagious decease spread in the rainy season. I watched our kitten dying and I can’t explain the pain that I felt that day. I was sad and helpless. I had tears in my eyes, and I literally cried over the loss. It was Chingi to leave us first followed by Goku, a couple of months later. The love and affection these furry animals bring to our life is so precious. I always feel so grateful for the unconditional love they gave me over the years. I have always tried my best to return the love back to them and would continue to do so till my time comes. The rainy season which brought sadness became the reason for smiles later when I took a small trip in nature along with my friends and strangers. Yes, we took the one-day trip with strangers to see the water falls at a nearby place. It was nice to see people in their sixties taking this trip solo on their own. I felt the much-needed calmness in the lap of nature and as the raindrop touched my body, all I experienced was peace. It was a wonderful experience overall. The gray clouds, little sunshine, cool breeze, the rain, and green trees, is all I need to be happy in this life.

In the month of September, I gave up on a career opportunity. It would have landed me in a good place financially but would have harmed my work-life balance equation. It was a tough decision to make but as I recall it now, I think it was a good leave. I am open to new and better opportunities now and confident that the next year will be the one for me. I celebrated my 35th birthday at the end of September and cherished the constants in my life. My family, a few close friends and some lovely well wishers make my life beautiful. Some people didn’t wish me this year on my birthday, and I was not surprised. I stuck to my learning and didn’t wish them on their birthdays. And guess what, the world didn’t fall apart.

There are some things that I have spent this year doing. One of them is watering my plants. I just water them and they produce these beautiful flowers. So colorful and magical they look in the morning! I have captured many pictures of flowers and each time I see and click them, I feel a new joy. The other thing I did this year was to relax and watch movies. Yes, watching movies is the best mood changer for me. I sit, relax, and watch movies at home. I enjoyed watching all types of movies this year including romance, Sci-Fi, adventure, and drama. The list is very long but I will share it at the end of this post later next week. And finally, the most important thing I did this year was eating. I ate yummy and delicious food throughout the year. The home cooked as well as hotel food, I didn’t bother to make my tummy feel overloaded. My food apps data would tell how much of a habit it has become for me to eat hotel cooked food. The new year resolutions are coming so I am thinking of dealing with this habit in there.

As the year comes to an end, I am happy to see my family and I are in a positive frame of mind, looking to start a new chapter of our lives at a new place soon. I am grateful to have a few close friends standing by my side and a kitten who pours love into my life without any condition. My search for romantic love is still on and I am glad I was able to keep my faith in the love alive despite the unexpected happenings in the year. My workplace is filled with full of drama, chaos, and personalities but I am glad to have some very nice people around who make the place better.

The year 2023 wasn’t easy but I managed to make the most of it. I learned a few lessons this year which I will share with you all in my next write-up. One of the sad things about 2023 was the lack of inspiration to write. Hopefully, I won’t lack it here onwards and continue to write.

Life wasn’t easy and never will be. There will be challenges, surprises and shocks waiting for you in the year 2024. So, spend these last few days of this year with a smile on your face and get ready for the brand new one. I wish you and your family a very happy new year. May 2024 bring good health, handsome money, and a lot of love in your life.

I think what I knew, she knew that too. What I was waiting for, she was waiting for that too. No, I am not talking about the end but the conclusion. The relationship we held onto for so long, we wanted to conclude what it was. We desperately wanted to decide whether to dissolve into each other or get separated by the polar distance. We both were too tired, of not each other but for being in the situation we were in. We were waiting for the moment of conclusion. I am glad we found that moment which became the fate of our relationship. We finally are free from each other, taking our share of memories from all those years with us. I don't know how to put my feelings into words and I may not be able to do so ever. However, one thing I learnt for sure from all of this is that when you are holding too much of emotions inside, you wait for that one moment which lets you free from everything inside of you. The timing is crucial, the more time it takes for that moment to arrive, the more it hurts. So my friend, respect that moment which concluded all for you and set you free. The moment that decided the fate of your relationship!

Do you make a to-do list? I do. I developed this habit of making to-do lists a few years ago and since then I have never stopped. I have become an organized person over the years both at work and in personal life. To-do lists, reminders, short notes, expense tracker, etc. has become a part of my life. The one interesting thing I have noticed time and again is that my to-do lists never get completely struck off. New items keep on adding into the list, making it long over the time or sometimes I strike off all the items from one list just to create a new one and start all over again.

When I see my life as a to-do list, I find that there is always something that needs to be done. No matter how many things I get done, something remains undone. Interestingly when I see the larger picture of my life, I see a long list of events that should have happened by now but they haven’t and are still unchecked in the list of my life. I find this odd, especially when I think inline with the time standards set by the society for people. I am 34 and by this age, a normal person should be married, living with a life partner and kids in his own house. He should also be making a lot of money, enjoying weekend trips with his friends and family travelling in his own car. This is what I think of a normal life of a person in his thirties.

But, as I said I am not living a normal life. It seems I have achieved nothing in my life and there is so much yet to happen and do. I have a decent job, a house and food to eat. I enjoy my life in my own ways. Still, some things are missing and I am into all of them all at once. I am single, in love with a girl living across the oceans. On the other side, I am also looking for a life partner to get married because the probability of having my love as a life partner is on lower side. It has always been a struggle at work and I am consistently trying to transition into better work profile so I could earn the money I deserve based on my skills and potential. I am under debt too as we purchased a new house last month and there is a sudden rise in financial expectations from myself. I think I should also mention my best friend “Bad Luck” here. I think it won't leave me alone until I die.

You see, my life is not normal and it constantly demands more than 100% of me. There is so much to do and so much to happen that I shouldn’t be relaxing sitting on the couch enjoying some random meme on my phone. But you know, there is something that I have learned through my experiences.

Life is not a check list. You need not strike off every item. You need not strike off the item in certain fixed time either.

Pratik Akkawar

Life is a gift and should be celebrated by all means. The things will happen at the right time and your efforts will ultimately pay off. You will get what you deserve. Till then, don’t say why me, why not now and instead enjoy the little things happening in this moment.

Sometimes all you need is some optimism and I am glad I am choosing to be optimistic today. I know my life is not normal and is way far from perfect but I know what it is asking from me. It wants me to do everything and be everywhere all at once. And, you know what, I am going to do exactly the same.

It was heartbreaking to see Christopher Robin leaving Winnie the Pooh and other friends behind. He said he had to and he did. He not only stayed far away from them but also forgot about his childhood in the process of growing old. He got busy in his adult life so much so that he did not even have time to miss anyone or anything from the past. He never missed his childhood friends either until after 20 years when Winnie the Pooh showed up in his life out of nowhere.

I felt very bad for the Pooh seeing that Christopher Robin wasn't even happy to see him after so long. It was sad to see Winnie the Pooh and his friends missing someone every single day for years. Someone like Christopher Robin who did not miss them and wasn't even willing to see them again.

But this I think is the beauty of innocent creatures like Winnie the Pooh and his friends. They still considered Christopher Robin their friend and welcomed him in their family once again. No blame games, no complains. For them nothing had changed. Christopher Robin was still the one who saved them from all the troubles. It takes a kind heart to forgive people without expecting an apology. Winnie the Pooh and his friends definitely had the kindest hearts of all.

I know they all are characters from the fiction but are very close to my heart. Their innocence melts my heart every time I see them on the screen. They are unaware of the cruel world outside. The only way they know to live life is with friends and family in harmony and peace. Isn't it the best way to live our lives?

PS - This writing piece is based on the movie Christopher Robin released in 2018 and my childhood memorires of watching Winnie the Pooh cartoon show on television.

I have grown up watching many cartoon shows and believe that the characters offer a lot for us to learn from them. So one question, would you guys like it if I continue to write on the same line and put up more articles based on these cartoon shows?

We search happiness all over the places. Some people say that it comes from within. It's in fact true. I agree. Some say that it is a state of mind and we can experience it if we could control and force our mind to focus on it. No disagreement here as well. It can be different for different people. Some might disagree but I personally believe that external things can also bring equal amount of happiness in our lives. The problem is not how one defines happiness and where do he/she finds it. The problem is, not all of us know that it can be created.

Sometimes, especially when you could not find the happiness anywhere, neither inside nor outside, it becomes important to know that it can be created. I was going through such a phase in my life recently where I lost my happiness. I wasn't sad. I wasn't happy. But being human, I was looking for it everywhere. I failed. I could not find it anywhere, neither inside nor outside.

The choice was obvious and I knew it was the time to create my own happiness for myself. The change was needed, in my thought process, behavior, beliefs and habits. The change doesn't always need you to go from old to new but sometimes the reverse. I said that because it fits perfect for me. The changes I brought to my life were something that I was used to in the past. I was just needed to bring what I used to practice back into my life once again. Here are the things that I did to create my own happiness.

I started to invest my time in “learning / experiencing new things” instead of “meaningless relationships”

I strongly believe that the most valuable thing in life is the time. I did not realized until I gave it a thought that I was wasting my time on some meaningless relationships. It happens, you get attached to people and flow with the emotions without realizing that nothing meaningful is happening with some of relationship. If you give it a thought, there is no rocket science to identify which relationships are meaningless yet consuming most of your valuable time. I identified mine and started to invest my time wisely again. I used that time for learning / experiencing new things. Experiencing new things doesn't mean I went on a long trip to travel the world or jumped down from the sky. I find happiness in small experiences like I witnessed a bud blooming into a beautiful flower a few days ago. I also used my time to learn new subjects like human psychology.

I decided to wait for “the upcoming movies, sports or events” instead of “the love / life partner”

Honestly speaking, it wasn't challenging. I have always been a guy who believes in 'falling for someone a thousand times again and again in moments'. However, I noticed that recently I was waiting for people to show me some love in return which on most occasions didn't happen. I was waiting for the romantic love to come in my life. And, as it wasn't happening, I was losing my happiness. It happens rarely with me but I had to correct it. The best option was to go for something that makes me happy and bring a lot of joy. I now wait for upcoming movies or sports. I was waiting eagerly for the movie Avengers- End Game and I could not express the happiness I felt after watching the movie. I am looking forward to the upcoming Cricket World Cup now.

I began to rate my day on “the scale of happiness / peace of mind” instead of “the productivity”

It was tough. I was not working for more than three months. No office, no work, no productivity and obviously no money. We often see people going crazy when they fail to turn their day into a productive one. A day on which they work for hours and gets money in return. They rate this kind of day on very high scale. No offense. However, my definition of a good day is very different. I can only say that, each day when I was happy and had peace of mind, was the best day of my life. However, the situation I was in made me rate my day on how productive I was. I wasn't. I was not working in office and I couldn't work at home as I was on the bed rest. I knew I wasn't that guy who would rate his day on being productive. I changed my mindset and accepted the situation I was in. I began to rate my day on the scale of happiness. I was doing nothing and still was fine. I was just happy.

I decided to make a habit of “reading new books” instead of “making new friends”

I had started to feel lonely. On normal days, I would never feel that way. But, when you are on a bed rest and find your friends too busy to have conversation, it becomes natural. I was looking for people to have meaningful conversations. I wanted to talk. I wanted to share. My openness to making new friends did not failed completely. I have found a couple of new friends recently and am enjoying talking to them. But, that openness did not last for long. I was happy for what I got and closed the doors again. That phase made me think of my old best friends, the books. I have been missing books since long. I felt happy for I decided to make a habit of reading new books instead of making new friends. You might not have your friends available all the time, but the books will always be there for you.

I started being curious about “what already exists” instead of “the future”

We think of the future more than required. We make plans for the future and expect that our plans must work out in the future. As we find the future more beautiful place to be in, we develop the curiosity about future happenings. I happened to do the same. I was curious about the happenings that were supposed to happen in the next month. I ended up being disappointed. I did not blame the curiosity I had. I knew being curious is a great thing. Upon realizing I started being curious about what already exists. There are billions of things out there that happen around. I developed curiosity towards the subjects and objects that already exists but I did not read about. My curiosity lead me to know more about time, space, science, spirituality and technology. In simple words, the curiosity lead me to meet my own happiness.

I practiced “letting go” instead of “holding on”

It is not something that one requires to do once in a life time. It is very hard to say which action holds more wisdom and importance. My personal experiences say letting go is always a good choice. When you let go of things, people and relationships, you become free. The people and relationships that meant for you, stays with you and you lose nothing. I was holding onto some people and relationships I did not want to lose. But at the same time, I was feeling the pain too. I finally let those people and relationships go just to find my happiness back. I am experiencing the great peace of mind since then.

I talked more to “myself” instead of “the people”

They all have busy lives. At least they say so. I did not believe but accepted. I had no one to talk to excluding couple of my close friends. I talked a lot with them but still used to have plenty of time. I was ignored by some people too. I knew, I had no rights to complain. I simply started to spend more time with myself in solitude. I started to talk to myself. It proven to be a great alternative. It helped me realize, analyze, accept and what not. The thought of creating my own happiness was also the result of talking to myself.

I started to keep “hopes” instead of “expectations”

Expectations is the root of heartache, they say. I could not agree more. Being in that situation I had developed expectations from the people. I was expecting people to take care of me, to give me importance and all their time. I was wrong. I was totally wrong. I had learned my lesson. I have been keeping hopes instead of expectations since then. It really helped to bring peace into my life.

I loved “the nature” instead of “people”

Believe me, this is a great alternative. If you are finding it to difficult to love someone or experiencing the pain instead of happiness being in love, it's time to look for an alternative. We all know being in love with wrong people can be painful as hell. So, why not go for the nature? I was finding it hard to love some people. I detached myself from them. I instead started to love the nature. I love animals. I love plants. I love the nature. Falling in love with the nature brings great feeling of happiness. Also, the nature responds well to your love. I watered my plants and it gifted me a beautiful flower a couple days ago. The nature will love you back, no matter what.

Value “people” instead of “money”

I did not start doing this recently. I have been doing this since ages. I values people more than money. It makes sense, doesn't it? I just wanted to highlight this point hence it is here.

Thank you for making time to read such a long personal post. I would like to know if any of the mentioned points made sense to you or you related to. Do you believe in a thought that happiness can be created? If yes, how do you do it? If no, let me know how you keep yourself happy?

Receiving gifts:

I was in 6th class when I received a gift from my school friend. It was the first one I could remember receiving from someone who wasn’t family. It was a flip-it greeting card with “Best friends forever” written inside. I had felt very happy that day. I remember giving him the similar type of flip-it greeting card the next year on his birthday. He too seemed happy receiving it. We were together from 4th to 10th class. We were best friends. Time separated us and we are no longer in contact. The next gift I received was from my dear cousin. It was a pair of brown shaded sunglasses. I had received it when I was doing my bachelors.

The next gift I received was the special one. It wasn’t a birthday gift. It was a gift for being a nice friend to three beautiful friend girls I had managed to make at the end of my bachelors. It was surprising for me. I was so grateful to them for showing such a kind gesture. It was a nice leather wallet. The next gift I received was from four friend girls during my Masters. It was a tiny God Ganesha's idol. Then it was a holy thread, a coffee mug and a letter from my girlfriend.

For me, every gift, whether materialistic or non materialistic was valuable. Whenever I have received any, I have accepted it with a whole heart. I still have all those gifts kept in my cupboard as well as in memory and heart with love.

Giving gifts:

I never developed a great interest in receiving gifts though. I had never expected to receive any and I still don’t. But, somehow this gifting thing had touched my heart, to the extent that I wanted to give gifts to my loved ones for no reason. It was during my bachelors I developed an interest in giving gifts. But, I was never into gifting thing and especially the materialistic gifts. I wanted to give better and unforgettable gifts to them. I wanted to show my love and feelings for them. As expected, I found it difficult to come up with any ideas. I ended up following the trend and gifted them chocolates. Then I tried to give them what they love, like one of my friend used to keep a personal diary so I gifted a diary to her. Idea was simple, give them something that makes them happy. It worked. The gifts made them happy.

However, I used to think that the gifts I was giving were not unforgettable and they won’t last long in the receivers’ memories. By that time, I had become more mature than before and have realised what makes a gift unforgettable. I thought putting an effort is the way to go.

I chose words. I thought they would make a great gifts. So, I started writing poems and articles for my loved ones. I used to put all my feelings and love into my writings. Most of them liked my idea and appreciated the gifts I gave to them. But still, I was not satisfied with my ideas. I tried different ideas and gave gifts. They all liked what I did and appreciated my efforts but I doubt for how long they remembered my gifts.

The most precious gift:

Today, being more matured that yesterday, I finally have found the greatest gift I can give to someone. It is my time and attention. Yes, you heard it right. No gift in the world is as precious as the time.

Throughout my life, I have received a precious gift of time from my loved ones including my family and friends, colleagues and well-wishers and even strangers. Realising the importance of time now, when I look back into the past, I see how carelessly I have utilised it. I realised that there were days I gave this precious gift to people who hardly cared for me, who never valued my gift and were not willing to offer me a return gift. When it comes to a precious gift like time, you got to realise that you have a limited stock and you should not waste it on people who don’t deserve it. Yes, it sounds selfish but there is no running away from the truth. Wise people knows how precious their time is. In fact they don’t waste a single minute on people unaware of its value. If you keep giving this precious gift of time to people who don’t value it, you will fall short when it will come to returning gift of time to someone who already has given theirs to you. Returning a precious gift becomes important because without that your relationships won’t survive long. Everyone craves for this precious gift of time and attention but won’t tell you on the face. It takes loving heart to know who is hoping to receive a precious gift of time from you.

I would take this opportunity to thank my dear friend Rushi who stood by me during my bad times and made sure I laugh a lot. I appreciate every minute he spent with me, especially during last three months when I was on bed and recovering from an injury. He has been there for more than ten years now and I know we will be there for each other lifelong. I would also like to thank my dear friend Rose who is tolerating my nonsense talks on phone. She has been a great listener for years and playing a role of my go-to person till now. She is a fun to be with. She makes sure I don’t feel lonely at times.

To Rose: Thank you so much Rose for being there. You owe me other gifts too but as of now I am happy for you giving me a precious gift of time and attention. I am visualising “Rose in the air” (You know what I am talking about) after writing these words of gratitude for you. Ah, it was difficult but I had to.

In love with a plant:

Every one of us love the plants, right? Refreshing, green and flowery! I mean, come on, who doesn’t? Some of us have a few at home and some don’t. And, some just have the big gardens filled with many kind of plants and trees. Not all, who have the plants, succeed, in keeping their plants green and flowery. Their plants somehow die. For no reason? Yet some of them succeed in keeping their plants alive for years. How? And well, those who don’t have plants yet, love the idea of having them.

Let’s see how it gets started. You don’t have a plant at home but you love the plants. Really? There is a chance that you are in love of an idea of having a plant at home. Maybe, you want a plant at home just because your neighbour does. There are many possibilities. Okay, let’s stick to the first one, you love the plants. Now because you love the plants, you bring the one at home. It feels exciting to have one at home. You appreciate everything about it. You tell your friends about it. It becomes a topic of discussion at home. It becomes part of your family. Sometimes you show it off to your neighbour just to make them know that you too have a plant now. (Also, expecting it to make more beautiful flowers than theirs’ as a reward in future).

You don’t know how to take care of it but you learn. You learn about it by paying close attention to its requirements. You enjoy this learning phase a lot. You feel good when it respond to the efforts taken by you. It starts to grow rapidly, it becomes what you wanted it to become. You see the buds coming out slowly. You feel so happy. You take extra care of the plant by providing it the required amount of sunlight, air and water. You nurture it by offering your love, spending your time and paying the attention to it daily. Slowly the bud transforms into a flower with petals. And one day, it blooms to be a flower. Divine, colorful and beautiful flower! You see the flower and you are on cloud nine. You tell about the flower to your friends and family. You take the photos and selfies and share them on every social media. You keep the pot on the right wall of the house making sure your neighbour sees the flower on your plant.

Just a routine:

You repeat what you did earlier for few more times. But, with time you lose the interest in the process. You still love the plants. You love yours too. You do, no doubt! However, the enthusiasm you used to have is now gone. You now know everything. You know what it takes for your plant to stay alive and make flowers. So, you do all what you know on regular basis. You water your plant daily, keep it at the place where it gets proper sunlight and air. It still works. The plant is still refreshing, green and flowery. You look at it and feel good. There is no more excitement and curiosity in you though.

You now know the routine and know that it works. So, here, you take your plant for granted. You are now too busy or tired to pay attention to it daily. The routine is no more a routine now. You start experimenting with it. You change the routine as per your convenience because making time for your plant seems like a responsibility. Now you water the plant once in two days instead of twice a day. You don’t pay enough attention to the change of season and the changing requirements of the plant. You keep changing the routine to find out that it works and the plant is still alive. You make the routine worse and worse.

One fine day, you happen to remember the old days. The good old days spent with your plant. You get nostalgic and go to see the plant closely. You feel sad, very sad. Your see that your plant is dying, slowly. You knew that it wasn’t looking fresh and green as earlier. You knew that it was not making flowers as it used to earlier. Now you know why. Because you never cared and chose to ignore. It was dying every single day when you ignored it, refused to spend time with it and stopped loving it. You thought that it will do fine and adjust to the routine you set for it. In fact it did. But there was a limit. You crossed all the limits making it give up on its life and die. It is too late to save its life now and you have nothing but regret in your heart.

You are the plant:

It is not only your plants story. It is the story of your relationships. The one you hold the relationship with is your plant and you are the plant of that someone. If not taken care and loved enough, your plant dies. Spend enough time with your loved ones, check up on them no matter how busy / tired you are and love them every single day. Nurture your relationships with care on regular basis. Enjoy the learning and stay curious about the future of your relationship.

Not necessary that your plant will die if you don’t do all above but for sure it will stop rewarding you with beautiful flowers, won’t look green and refreshing, burn from inside or give up you.

Few tips to keep plants healthy:

Check if you are ready to have a plant at home.

Know that it takes continuous efforts to grow the healthy and flowery plants.

Know that if you can’t take care of plants, don’t have plants.

Thank you so much for making time to read my blog post. I would love to hear back from you on the same topic. Do provide a feedback using any of the available methods.

Learning:

I carry this belief that I have learned so much from my life. I learned from my experiences, people I met so far, friendships and relationships I happened to have with people, incidences and moments and so on. I believe that I have learned because I can feel the difference in me when I come across the same scenarios again and again. The learning has made me capable of analyzing what is happening to/around me and why something is happening in my life. So I am grateful for learning and being capable of recognizing things. Yet, lately I realized that the mere learning is not enough. In fact, learning is not complete without practicing what you’ve learned repeatedly when possible.

No kidding but it’s true. Everyone learns something, little or big, better or bitter from their experiences and draws the conclusion whether right or wrong at the end of the day. So what makes some people go and grow beyond others who learn as much as these few people do? And the answer is simple, very few people apply what they have learned in the future. They recognize the behaviour of the people, consistency of the pattern in the scenario they are in and so much. They are smart enough to recall the memories and eventually the learning in the past and react according to the situation. One might argue at this point that how this could be the possible solution? But, believe me, this saves a lot of damage coming your way. This method can save you to the great extent from the emotional and mental damage that some incidences may cause. It can reduce the impact of the circumstances you are in and the internal pain you feel when something terrible happens in your life.

We as humans are wired to half-learn but to learn something completely and have control on your emotions, desires, expectations or overall on yourselves, you have to practice what you learn by applying the solution in your life. The solution could be anything and comes from the brain and not heart. I know most of the people want to follow their heart but hello, it is 21st century you are living in and your brain is not an enemy of your heart. In fact, listening to your brain can bring you loads of benefits as the solution it provides would be more practical and thoughtful. The data collected in the form of knowledge and wisdom which acts as a solution in the future is stored in the brain and not heart. So while applying the solution or reacting to the current situation, referring your brain would be a better choice than referring your heart.

I always make sure that I write what I practice in my life and vice versa. So when I write and ask people to be optimistic, hopeful, fearless and inspiration to others, know that I am being all that. However, as I said, I realized that if you don’t practice what you have learned, you remain at the same old place. Hence, these days I have started to practice everything I had learned and hopefully I will do that repeatedly in my life. Below are some of my past learnings I am aiming to practice at the beginning.

Expect nothing in return from people and relationships:

It is something I honestly feel that everyone should learn and practice to make this world a better place. It won’t change the world the way you are thinking right now. Having expectations from the people and relationships, no matter who they are (your partner, family, and friends) and what relationships you have with them, most of the times hurt you, leaving you behind with self-doubt, anger or sadness. Instead of expecting, be hopeful about the people and your relationships with them. So, if you learn not to expect anything in return from the people and relationships, you end up being happy. The key to happiness is lowering your expectations. And, as more and more people become happy, it eventually will make the world a better and happy place to live in.

Lower the amount of expectations from yourself:

There is no harm in expecting yourself to do something like, making a dream come true, achieve something great or setting personal goals in the journey of life. However, I believe that there should be a limit. Don’t put a heavy burden of expectations on yourself that it becomes very hard to put a step forward. There is no benefit if you are making your life a struggle because of your expectations from yourself. It is a good practice to lower the expectations if you are finding it difficult to walk with the heavy burden of expectations. Put it down for a while and take the rest. The purpose is to be happy and enjoy the journey. Don’t ruin your journey by carrying extra load of expectations.

Let go of the past:

It is absolutely okay to recall the memories, both good and bad. However, staying in the past is not acceptable.

All of us have the past and we all visit it now and then. We as humans are made to live in all the times. I don’t like it when people say, they never look back. Know that they are lying because it is simply not possible for humans. Recalling the memories and living the moments in the past again is actually a good thing. In fact, as I explained earlier, the past helps us to save the future damage, so, calling the past a bad place would be wrong. In simple words, it is fine to visit the past but staying in the past is a bad thing. And, the worse thing is to try to change the past even when you know that it is impossible. So, practice to let go of the past as much as possible to live a happy life.

The truest form of love is when it comes from both the ends. The love that returns to you in some form or another. The one you don't ask for but gets in return.

The real love leads you to a beautiful relationship where both the person willingly take efforts to keep it for long. A relationship where people involved gets new purpose for life. The love that gives new meaning to their lives.

I have always heard that a person in love will keep loving another without any expectations. Though it is true and common, it won't give you a feeling of the love which is complete. I consider it as an act of giving without expectations but not the real love. The real love is felt when it returns to you not because of your expectations but because of their willingness.

Though it seems hard to accept but isn't it the reason people break their toxic relationships or marriages. They at some point realise that they are not being loved back. Don't you find yourself giving advice to people break their relationship simply because they are not being loved back? Then why we find it very difficult when someone says loving selflessly is not the complete love?

Loving someone and wanting someone are two different things. It took me years to understand, accept and learn this. I fell in love with a beautiful girl who was living miles away from my place. She entered into my life as a friend during the last few days of our college. We studied the same course in college but it was only during our last year’s exams that we talked with each other. (How we met is a different story altogether.) The day I met her for the first time, I knew nothing was going to happen with us, not even friendship. We had few conversations during the exams but there was nothing like friendship. The destiny did the expected by separating both of us before we could become friends with each other. She left my city to pursue her Masters and settled in at the place 200 km away from mine.

Four months forward, we were friends talking for hours over the phone. Our bond grew stronger with time. Eight months after our first encounter, we were in love with each other. Everything seemed nice and normal except the relationship we were in. It was a long distance relationship. Both of us did not have the experience of being in a relationship. Our situation put the great challenges before us. Our relationship survived for almost a year after which she decided to leave.

Heartbreaks can be as painful as death. The first one hurts even bad. I had never felt such a pain till the time I faced my first heartbreak. I was doing fine but the feelings were there. The WHYs used to wake me up in the middle of night. The sleeps had turned into the tasks allowing the body to rest while the mind was looking for the answers that I never got from her but later from my life.

Heartbreaks make you wiser and life makes you understand everything. You grow with time and become mature. You develop the ability to look at the world from all possible perspectives. You start to understand. You get answers. Once, you get the answers, you accept. And, finally you learn the truth.

In the past when I used to think about my long distance relationship with my girlfriend, I used to end up with the thought of her leaving me alone. I used to feel the pain not because she left me but because she left me even being in love with me. A letter she handed to me during our last meeting was enough the proof. She was an honest person indeed. She never denied her feelings for me. But, this act of her left me puzzled for months. I used to wonder thinking how it can even be possible for a person to love you but not want you at the same time. I asked her but she could not explain. I kept searching for the answer at wrong places for years until I got it from my own experiences. In all these years after my first heartbreak, I fell in love with a few more girls, though I kept myself away from relationship commitments. To my misfortune, I happened to go through similar kind of experiences again and again. The girls I loved, loved me back but did not want me in their life. A couple more such an experiences and I got the answer to my question.

Is it possible for a person to love someone but not want that someone in their life?

The answer is yes. Loving is not a choice. You don’t plan to be in love so you don’t have control over it. While allowing someone to be a part of your life or being in someone’s life is all up to you. It is a choice that you have control over to make. So, you must think of it as a normal phenomenon when one shows the love for you but don’t want you to be in their life forever. Furthermore, wanting to be with someone depends on many factors. Someone might not want you because you have different lifestyle, goals, habits or anything that they feel won’t work out in the life-long relationship or marriage. Some can even have their preferences set but still find themselves falling in love with the person who lacks what they were looking for. In such a situation, they are left with no choice but to leave the person they love for the person they want to be with.

I know, it sounds harsh and unbelievable at first but this is what the truth is. I can say this as I have experienced it for several times. The process is the key here. First, you will need to understand and once you do, you will start accepting it. Gradually, you learn the truth and start living with it. The quick you learn the more you will be at peace. The moment I learned the truth, I started realizing the situation my girlfriend was in years ago. She decided to leave me for she wanted to be with someone else. She was in love with me but I lacked something she was looking for in her life partner. She loved me but did not want me. She left but with sure confidence for she knew the situation she was in very well. I was the one who took years to understand her situation. But, now today, after learning so much from my life, I am at peace and happy.

I would like to dedicate this post to my beautiful girlfriend who has always inspired me in life. She was the reason I started writing and she still inspires me to write more. It was her birthday a few days ago and I wish her all success and fortune.
